Planning a baby shower can be as stressful as preparing for any other event. You have to make sure that you have the right theme, the right food and the right mix of people.

Here are some tips to keep in mind to help ease the pressure of preparing the perfect baby shower party:

  • The best time to hold a baby shower is during the new mom’s 7th or 8th month of pregnancy, never during the month when she is due. Although traditional rules dictate that relatives or the new mom herself cannot hold the baby shower, recent trends have made it possible for the new mom to hold her own baby shower party.
  • Make sure that you select a theme that’s fit to the new parents’ personality. Once you have done that, make sure that everything, including your invitation and party favors, adhere to the theme.
  • Invite guests who are somehow familiar with each other.
  • Send the invitations at least three weeks prior to the date of the baby shower. That way, your guests would have enough time to plan their schedule.
  • Go for baby shower gift registry. This takes away the guess work for your guests and ensures that you, or the new parents, receive only those gifts that they really need. It also prevents guests from bringing in the same gifts.
  • As much as possible, go for finger foods and light snacks. Quiches and vegetable sticks are some of the commonly served food items during baby shower parties. Be sure to check your guests’ dietary requirements, however, so that you can prepare your snacks accordingly.
  • Go for games that would not make your guests feel awkward. If you happen to be the organizer, make sure you consult the mother-to-be.
  • Make sure you already have your bay shower favors at least a day before the party.
  • Keep in mind that baby showers usually do not last the whole day. Oftentimes, they are short and sweet, and focus mostly on the mother-to-be
  • Lastly, always remember that the person who plans and invites the guests is the one paying for the party. If you are strapped for cash, you can share the expenses with some of your friends who would also be attending the party. If you are the mother-to-be, you can even encourage your guests to do a potluck.

If you are having problems finding the right baby shower party favor, Simply Unique Baby Gifts has some of the most interesting and adorable party favors that you can find.

One of the milestones in a couple’s life would be having a baby. This time in a couple’s life can both be exciting and nerve-wracking. One of the ways by which you can help the new parents take their mind off the nerve-wracking part of having a baby is to host a baby shower for them.

Unfortunately, holding a baby shower can also be a stressful experience especially if you don’t know how to prepare for one. Here are some tips to keep in mind to ensure that your baby shower is a truly memorable experience:

  1. At a lost on when to have your baby shower? You can have it during the 7th and 8th month of the new mom’s pregnancy or a month after she has given birth. The common practice is to hold it in the afternoon.
  2. Your baby shower theme should depend on the mom’s personality. If she is the type of person who likes stuffed toys, then having a teddy bear shower party would be a great idea. As the host, you have to make sure, however, that you keep everything to your theme – starting with the invitations down to your party favors.
  3. Baby shower games can be a good way to mix your guests, just make sure that your games are suited to your kind of guests.
  4. Keep the guess work out of gift-giving by subscribing to a baby gift registry. This way, the new parents are sure to get only those gifts that they would really need as well as keep them from receiving the same gift from two or more people. It also allows the guests to shorten the time they would spend in looking for the perfect gift.
  5. The best way to serve food during a  baby shower is buffet style. Since baby showers are usually done in the afternoon, your best move would be to serve snacks – quiches, vegetable sticks, and M&Ms are some of the most commonly served snacks during baby showers. Have also a good mix of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks on hand for the guests.

Of course, it is also a good idea to give party favors to your guests to make the event more unforgettable. This would be the easiest part as there are a great number of unique party favors online like those that can be found at Simply Unique Baby Gifts.

Starting your baby on solid food can be one of the most awaited milestones in a parent’s life, so exciting that some parents take a number of things for granted.

Here are some tips to keep in mind to make starting on solid foods a breeze:

  1. If your little on is under the age of three, as much as possible, avoid giving them berries, hard candies, medium to larg chunks of meat, nuts, olives, and raw carrots. Keep in mind that, although your baby can already chew, there is still the possibility of him or her choking.
  2. Make sure you check first with your doctor if you can mix cow’s milk with your baby’s cereals. There have been reported cases of allergies as well as adverse reactions in infants ingesting cow’s milk.
  3. Do not sweeten your baby’s food unless he or she shows sign of dissatisfaction with the unsweetened variety.
  4. Introduce vegetables first before fruits to keep your baby from going after the sweet taste of fruits.
  5. Introduce meat when your baby is already 8 months or older. This is also the case when it comes to eggs and other dairy products.

Keep in mind that whatever taste preferences your little one would develop during her early years would be with her throughout her life, so you should choose her food well.

Make sure you keep a baby bib handy at all times when feeding your little one as your first few attempts at feeding her would definitely be a messy one. Simply Unique Baby Gifts’ has a great line of baby bibs which you might want to try.

As fragile as your little one might seem to be, you still have to make sure that you trim his little fingernails every now and then. This is because your baby’s fingernails tend to be sharper than yours and could easily scratch his skin and yours. Here are some things to keep in mind to make your “trimming” session a bit easier:

  1. The best time to have your little one’s nails trimmed is when he or she is asleep or after your little one has taken a bath when his nails are the softest.
  2. In order to avoid nicking your baby’s skin, make sure that you use baby scissors or clippers. Pull the finger pad away from the nail and then start cutting.
  3. When doing the fingernails, make sure that you follow the curve of the finger. On the other hand, cutting the toe nails would mean cutting straight across.
  4. If you are afraid of nicking your baby’s skin, you can also go for an emery board. Slowly file away the excess nail of your little one.
  5. As much as it is the easiest thing to do, do not bite your baby’s nails into shape. By doing so, you only run the risk of transferring infection as well as a host of other microorganisms to your baby.

If you need to clip your baby’s nails while he or she is awake, you would need something to distract him. Simply Unique Baby Gifts has a complete line of baby toys that you can use to get your baby’s attention.
