One of the hardest things that you have to go through as a new parent is watching your baby cry in pain as his or her gums break during the teething process.

Although there may be many over-the-counter drugs and ointments that you can get to ease your little one’s pains, there is actually a more budget-friendly and natural way to handling teething:

  1. Frozen bagels work the same way as those teethers that you come across in stores. Since bagels are tough, they won’t break down easily.
  2. Dabbing some diluted clove oil on your baby’s gums have also been proven to ease pain. Make sure however that you do not put an undiluted clove oil directly to your baby’s gums.
  3. Make sure that your baby’s food is served cold. This would help numb his or her gums.baby care kit
  4. Rubbing vanilla extract can also relieve the pain in your baby’s gums. Vanilla extract is known to have soothing properties. This, coupled with the pressure from rubbing, helps lessen the pain.
  5. Lastly, a soft, clean, wet towel cloth placed in the freezer for a few minute makes for a great teether. It’s coldness numbs the gums while the pressure from biting it relieves the upward pressure brought about by the teeth.

Having Simply Unique Baby Gifts’ Baby Care Kit can help ensure that your baby goes through the teething stage in a breeze.

Breastfeeding your baby can be an entirely new experience especially if you are a first-time mom. The good things is, there would be many people who would be willing to give you pieces of advice when it comes to breastfeeding. Unfortunately, not all of this would be true. Here’s some of those that are considered to be myths:

  1. There really are women who do not produce a lot of milk. In truth, women produce more milk than their babies would need. The problem usually lies in the fact that most babies are unable to latch properly on to their mother’s nipples.
  2. Breastfeeding hurts. Feeling a bit sore during the first few days of breastfeeding is normal but experiencing that can be considered more than mild is a cause for concern. Oftentimes, this signifies that the baby is not latching on properly or that the mother has some from of yeast infection of the nipples.
  3. If your baby is experiencing diarrhea or vomiting, you should stop breastfeeding. In truth, breast milk is the only liquid that your baby would need in order to fight off diarrhea. You should, however, stop other food that he or she is taking.unique personalized baby gifts
  4. Breastfeeding could be time-consuming. Of course it would eat up your time but it is also fairly easier than bottle feeding. With breastfeeding, you need not worry anymore about lugging around bottles, warm water, or breast pumps.
  5. Small breasts mean low milk supply. How much milk a mother is able to supply is not dependent on the size of her breasts.

If you are ready to breast milk your baby, then you should have with you some Simply Unique Baby Gifts’ burp cloths ready to clean up after your baby.

When it’s time for baby to play, some parents can either get too involved or too out of touch. Here are some things to remember to make your baby’s playtime all worthwhile.

  1. Make sure that your baby has already eaten and has had enough rest before you allow him to play.
  2. Start with stimulating activities before you move on to more relaxed ones.
  3. Let your baby figure things out by himself. In case he gets frustrated or gives up on what he is doing, then that’s the only time you ca n interfere. This way, you are letting the baby develop his problem solving skills. This also goes when he is just learning to walk. Do not come hurrying about just because he cannot stand himself up.
  4. Do not force your baby to play. Let them develop their own play habits and schedules.
  5. Get down on the floor with them. This is your chance to form a bond with your baby. Keep in mind also that your baby would love it if he or she has your attention.
  6. Try showing your baby books with lots of pictures. Point to these pictures and name them. Let your baby do the page-turning.

Keep in mind that playtime is your baby’s chance to develop his social, intellectual and problem-solving skills. Educational toys such as the Baby Einstein Playtime Wagon of Simply Unique Baby Gifts can help stimulate your child’s brain.

Baby’s first bath is one of those experiences that a new mom and dad cannot forget. Here are some handy tips to make your baby’s first bath a sweet memory:

1. Set a specific time when you would want to have your baby’s first bath. It would be a good idea to ensure that both you and your husband would be present.

2. Prepare all the things that you would be needing for baby’s first bath. This would include the towels, washcloths, alcohol pads, diaper and baby clothes. You actually don’t need to have a baby soap or shampoo with you at this time. Remember, your baby do not sweat much, not yet at least. Soaps and shampoo could only irritate his or her skin.

Sponge bath is highly recommended until such time that your baby’s umbilical cord stump has fallen off or your son’s circumcision scars have healed.

4. Newborn babies usually lose body heat through their head fast so you might want to clean this part last. Make sure that you have a ready hooded towel to dry your baby.

5. Never leave your baby alone in the tub. Remember, they do not have the reflexes yet to pull up themselves. If you need to take a call or have forgotten something, wrap your baby in a dry towel and bring him or her with you.

Make sure you cover your baby’s head properly when you have finished giving him a bath. You can wrap them up first with Simply Unique Baby Gifts’ Blue Puppy or Pink Character Hooded Baby towels and mitts.
